Basically it is a sensor that is in the switch that determines the position of the switch. So while I can't confirm this on this part due to not having a manual but I suspect it is included in the part. So I dismantled the entire boot lid and removed switch and lock, car still wouldn't lock only thing left was the wiper disconnected it and bingo car locked fine put it back together and switch and boot lock operated as normal.

You cannot drive the car as it will only rev to 2000. After several attempts of starting, it will drive with service light on but not on full power.

Take the window all the way down then back up again, persisting until it goes to the top and hold the button in the 'up' positioon for 10 seconds.
