In the settings, you can go to the page were you set your key functions. There you can bind a key for "Activating cruisecontrol" "Cruisecontrol up" "Cruisecontrol down" and "Reset cruisecontrol". Under Options > Controls, try the changing the Steering Sensitivity slider. Like you, I find that the steering is too slow when using the keyboard. I wouldn't change the Steering non-linearity setting from its default for use with the keyboard as it can cause you to tip over by steering too fast. #5.
