I recently reinstalled NfS Hot Pursuit (non-Remaster) and played that a bit. So I have the save game state at the most current level on my system folder somewhere. The question is, will the Remaster make use of that game state, and possibly update all the achievements appropriately?

It's not open world. When selecting a race you have to press Y to go into free roam. You get to choose if you want the normal cars or the police cars. All you do is drive around its really pointless. Solution: Switching to Offline mode after launching the game in Origin fixes the issue. After passing through the load screen in offline mode, when entering to the menu screen, switch back to online mode in Origin to play multiplayer with the save file intact and not overwritten. #1.
