It prefers to cruise right around 5,000 rpm, which is right at the beginning of the sweet spot between 5,000 and 9,000 rpm. The KTM 790 prefers to be moooooving. Slow, technical trails aren’t where the 390 ADV shines, to be honest. Yes, it has the balance, but its engine’s character makes such proceedings a bit challenging. Show it a faster, hard-packed trail though, and the motorcycle comes into its own. Its well-damped suspension flattens all but the deepest of potholes. The 890 represent a much better value than the T7. Other than a lower MSRP, I think the only other argument in favor of the T7 is that it will possibly be more reliable over the long term. Don't get hung up on the difference in price. The only thing worse than spending too much money is spending too little. #17.
