So wouldnt pursue that avenue. BSH is a cheaper alternative. The 1.4 TSI engine is both supercharged and turbocharged. Logged. #1493.
Hi all, Just sold my mk4 golf and bought myself a mk5 Golf 1.4 GT Sport TSI 170, decided to have a look around the mk5 section to find a few post saying there's loads of problems with this engine. Starting to think I've made a bad decision, any feedback on this engine would be good.

Volkswagen Golf V - Vw golf 1.4 gt tsi 170 MAJOR PROBLEM - dieselnut : It sounds like the turbo may have failed & spewing oil into the exhaust. You need to get it recovered to your garage & certainly don't start the engine without first checking the oil level.
So my brother has bought a new car and it comes with a rather confusing problem. The car is a Golf MK5 1.4TSI 57plate. What happens is on a cold start it starts fine and you can turn it off and start it plenty of times without issue however ones it has warmed up or if you drive it to somewhere then turn it off, it will not start or some times

Yea ive been looking for a 1.6 petrol or 1.9tdi, im only 18 so insurance is a bitch, but this 1.4 petrol i have found is nice and cheap, 55 plate 22k miles with a few mods like gt lights and weels etc. for only 6k
